Response of blood pressure in different intensity of resistance exercise single and multi-joint
Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the responses of blood pressure in different intensities of resistance exercise and single and multi-joint. We selected, 11 normotensive college students, practitioners of resistance training (22.2 ± 2.8 years, 171.2 ± 9.4 cm, 68.0 ± 12.6 kg, 23.0 ± 2.4 kg/m2), performed three sets with 60 and 80% of one maximum repetition in peck deck fly and bench press exercises to concentric failure. Blood pressure and heart rate (HR) were obtained in the initial position of each execise: at rest, immediately after the last set of exercises, and during recovery. In both intensities (60 and 80% of 1RM), we found no significant differences between the exercises (peck deck flying and bench press) in relation to HR, systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic (DBP) and mean (MBP). After three sets were observed increases in HR and SBP, and DBP decreased. The MBP remained unchanged at this time. multi-joint exercises in the bench press consistently promoted a reduction in blood pressure levels in the stages of recovery, independent investigation of the intensity compared to the single joint exercise in peck deck flying.
