Adapted physical education: teacher training and the participation of persons with disabilities in regular education
Abstract
Objective: investigate the formation of a physical education teacher in the field of Adapted Physical Education and participation of people with disabilities in physical education classes in regular schools. Methods: The sample consisted of 18 teachers (34 ± 5 years) of private and public schools, and (38.9%) and women (61.1%) men. Data were collected in themunicipality of Balneária resort of Praia Grande, through a questionnaire. Results: Allstudents with disabilities in schools participated in physical education classes. Regardingteachers, 72.2% were aware of EFA and 55.5% had sufficient knowledge to include adisabled student in their classes. Conclusion: All students with disabilities participate in PEclasses. Most teachers have specialization in academic formation. The search for knowledgepromotes vocational training and contributes to the success of the objectives of inclusion.
