Use of the Excel® to calculate the fat percentage by the circumference
Abstract
The objective of the article was to teach how to use Excel® to calculate the fat percentage by circumference. The first procedure to establish the far percentage by the circumference is to collect the data in the indicated anatomical points according to the sex and age. The anatomical points of circumference measurements are indicated by McArdle, Katch and Katch (2011), is the abdomen, the gluteus, right thigh, right arm, right forearm and right calf. After the evaluator establishes the circumference of the evaluated, it deserves to consult the constant conversion of the sex and of the age to substitute the value of the circumference by the corresponding constant. The author programmed these equations in Excel®, the evaluator must write the constants that the result is established after the enter command. Other calculations (lean body mass, ideal weight, and excess fat weight) will be provided immediately because they have been programmed in Excel®. In conclusion, calculating the fat percentage in Excel® and other anthropometric calculations makes this task fast and easy.
