Influence of different volumes of the stretching method facilitation neuromuscular propricoceptive in the antagonits on the performance of maximum repetitions of agonists
Abstract
Introduction: Previous studies evidence that stretching promotes deleterious effects in performance of strenght, power and athletic performance. However, the potencial effects of the stretching antagonists on the performance in maximum repetitions of the agonists remain unclear. Purpose: verify the acute effect of the FNP Stretching method in Hamstrings with different volumes and different number of series at the performance of maximum repetitions in the exercise chair extensor. Materials and methods: thirteen trained men (33 ± 4,51 years) participated voluntarily in the study. Initially, was tested and retest of ten maximal repetitions, anthropometric measurements, and familiarization protocol. Then three experimental protocols were applied: (a) Control Protocol (PCON) – without stretching previous; (b) FNP Protocol with reduced volume (PFNP1) – FNP method applied in antagonists; (c) FNP Protocol with expanded volume (PFNP2) – FNP method applied in antagonists. In all protocols was performed one set of the exercise chair extensor until the concentric failure with loads for ten maximum repetitions. Results: The number of maximum repetitions did not have significant differences between the protocols, either the control, or the experimental ones. Conclusion: The use of the FNP stretching method, regardless of volume, in the antagonist muscles had no significant effects on the performance of maximal repetitions in the extensor chair exercise, when compared to the protocol without stretching.
