Pilates method as a painkiller recourse in people with low-back pain diagnosis
Abstract
Introduction: Several are the complaints of pain in the lumbar region of the vertebral spine, being responsible for the main cause of working leave. Among the current resources for the conservative treatment of this disease is the Pilates Method that arises as way of physical conditionings which aims at providing a general well being and is capable of providing strength, suppleness, good posture and improve body consciousness, treating or preventing the injuries in the vertebral spine. Objective: The objective of this study is to check the variation of pain level in the lumbar region before and after 10 sessions of an exercise program based on the Pilates Method. Methods: For evaluation of pain before and after the sessions of Pilates were used a scale analogous-appearance. Results: The sample was of 13 women, with age ranging from 30 to 65 years, being 48.6 average ± 8.9 years. The average of corporal weight meets in 65.1 ± 14.5 and 164.9 height ± 5.2. The average of the IMC, 23.8 ± 4.21. Quarrel: A significant difference was found between the pre and post evaluation (p=0.00). Conclusion: One concludes that the Pilates Method was an efficient resource for the treatment of lumbar or ciática pain in the studied population. One suggests that more studies are made using the Pilates Method in order to verify other possibilities of application of this technique as therapeutical modality.
