The effects of judô and jiu jitsu training on heart rate and blood pressure: a systematic review
Abstract
Introduction: Cardiovascular problems affect millions of people in the world, with a sedentary lifestyle being the trigger for harmful changes in the system, the practice of exercises becomes the main way to combat these effects, and fighting is a dynamic option. It is understood that changes in the cardiovascular system occur during exercise, being variable and according to the modality practiced. Objective: To investigate the effects of combat sports training, with a focus on specifically analyzing the modalities of Judo and Jiu Jitsu under heart rate and blood pressure. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out, using Pubmed and Scielo databases in the research. Results: 1945 articles were identified and, after analyzing the material, 04 manuscripts were selected according to the exclusion and inclusion criteria in order to be worked on in this study. Both selected modalities had positive effects on the cardiovascular system. Discussion: The main effects are the reduction of blood pressure and heart rate, since the practice of judo generates modulating effects of the system, decreasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Conclusion: Both Judo and Jiu Jitsu are capable of producing positive modulations in the autonomic nervous system, being an excellent strategy in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases
