Abstract

Introduction: Sportomics studies disseminate knowledge about the behavior of physiological variables in different sports. Objective: To present the reference values and the correlation between these variables for soccer athletes, at the end of a pre-season. Materials and methods: This is an observational and cross-sectional cohort study with 33 men, from a professional team from the first division of Rio de Janeiro. For body composition the four-fold Faulkner protocol, YOYO TEST endurance II, and RAST TEST for performance and handgrip strength (HGS) and flexibility as functional data. Spearman's test was applied among twenty variables. Results: The highest positive correlations were between body composition data. The biggest negative correlations between the percentage of fatigue and the minimum power, suprailiac skinfold, and the average power and with the minimum power and the average power with the percentage of fat and with the fat mass. Conclusions: The technique of elucidating correlations using the heat map strategy emerges as a new perspective for sport science. The abdominal and suprailiac skinfolds were the ones that presented the greatest correlation with the percentage of fat and fat mass. The suprailiac fold had the greatest negative correlation with potency. Regarding performance, the athlete's age and position seem to have great interference. Our group reaffirms HGS not only as a hand strength meter but as an excellent predictor of general health.
