Abstract

The range of motion (ROM) of strength training exercises has been the topic of several original studies in recent years. Therefore, the objective of this work will be to carry out a narrative review on the manipulation of ROM in strength training. To carry out this review, original articles in Portuguese and English were selected from the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases. The studies reviewed reported the superiority of training with complete ROM in relation to variations with partial ROM with shortened muscles in the development of strength and hypertrophy measures. However, studies demonstrate a greater hypertrophic response when exercises require greater muscle stretching or are performed with partial ROM with more elongated muscles.
