Analysis of the general perception of health and quality of life of elderly practitioners of hydro gymnastics from SF-36
Abstract
Studies confirm that despite the losses of organic and natural function of aging, it is possible to generate a human being and healthy elderly with autonomy through healthy life habits. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the perception of general health status of elderly practitioners of water aerobics through the SF-36, which includes eight scales: Physical Functioning (PF), Limitations on the Physical Aspects (LFA), Pain (PN), General Health (GH), Vitality (VT), Social Aspects (SA), Limitations due to Emotional Problems (LEP) and Mental Health (MH). Participated in this study, 15 volunteers with a mean age of 64 years (±4,7) practicing gymnastics at a clinic in the city of Fortaleza. It was observed that the domain was the highest score GH with 93,2 points (±5,8) had the lowest score fell underthe sway VT with 71,7 points (±17,0). Noting specifically the area PF, there was an average of 78,5 (±26,3). The average value found in the component LFA was 88,5 points (±20,0). With respect to the domain PN, we obtained the result of 72,6 (±13,4). When analyzing the SA, one sees that the values obtained exceeding the overall average, with a score of 87,5 (±18,2). In the LEP the score was 78,3 (±33,5). In relation to MH, one can observe a mean score 83,7 (±11,9). Finally, the overall average in all areas was 81,7 (±18,2). Therefore, we conclude that the elderly who do water aerobics regularly have agood level of quality of life and health.
