Exercise regular and quality of Life in women with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract
Introduction: Type II diabetes is characterized by a chronic increase of serum glucose that leads to several problems with the disease. Exercise is a treatment option and brings several benefits that improve quality of life of the patient. Objective: To observe the relationship between quality of life and regular exercise for women with diabetes type II. Materials and Methods: There was a questionnaire to type II diabetic women between 50 and 70 years. The data were analyzed in absolute numbers, the simple average and percentage. Results: Average age of women: 61 years, BMI more common overweight. Average years of diagnosis: 4 years. Regarding occupation, 62.5% of respondents declared themselves "home" or domestic. The physical aspect was the most cited (10 of 16 respondents) as being the most affected by diabetes type II.The average time that women engage in regular exercise is 7 months and 68.75% of them do it three times a week. Most cited improvements attributed to physical exercise: better, physical condition and available for daily activities. All are very satisfied or satisfied with the effects of exercise and most defining quality of life for the physical well-being. Discussion: Regular exercise brings significant improvements to the well-being of women with diabetes type II, both in physical and emotional / psychological. Thus, these women have improved their quality of life. Conclusion: The quality of life for women with diabetes type II is directly affected by regular exercise.
