Level of chronotropic incompetence in physical education students
Abstract
The chronotropic incompetence (CI) is characterized as the inability to achieve 80% of the effort heart rate reserve for the age and is a predictor of mortality and adverse cardiac events, even in healthy populations. The study aims to investigate the level of chronotropic incompetence in physical education students at a university inthe city of Niterói, belonging to the state of Rio de Janeiro. Were selected to sample 22 individuals, apparently healthy and trained. The subjects were divided into two groups related to age (below 25 years and above 25 years). For the maximal test was adopted Bruce protocol treadmill. The maximum predicted HR for age (FCMP) was calculated from the equation FCMP = 220 -age in years. To check the correlation coefficient between the groups (G1 vs. G2), the analysis of HR during exercise, we used a linear regression procedure. However, for measurements of the independent variables (VO²Max and PSE) between groups was adopted Wilcoxon test. For all analyzes was considered the level of significance (p <.05). The Wilcoxon test showed no significant difference between groups (G1 vs. G2) over the variables FCMP = 80%,> 80% FCMP, Vo²max. relative PSE. However, there was no risk of HF in both groups.
