Serum creatine kinase enzyme evaluation in professional soccer players from the interior of São Paulo before and after the pre-season
Abstract
Soccer is a Sport practiced by different population with light, moderate and intense efforts that could damage the muscle and harm the overall performance. The aim of this study was to analyze inflammatory musclemarkers before and after pre-season. Fourteen professional soccer players had Creatina Quinase concentrations analyzed before and after three months of pre-season and the start of competitive period. The normality of the data was analyzed by Shapiro-Wilk test and the comparison between moments by Wilcoxon’s test for no-paired samples. Significance level was set at p‹0,05.Results are expressed as means ± SD. CK values pre and post were 356,96 ± 189,70 U/L and 178,78 ± 167,97 U/L, respectively (P = 0,01), with percentage reduction of 180,52 ± 217,19. These results allowed us to conclude that pre-season was effective to reduce plasmatic CK and muscle damage.
