Meta-analysis for the studies of the sport and of the physicalactivity
Abstract
The aim of the review was to teach the necessary calculations for the researcher perform a meta-analysis of quality. In part one of the article were taught the following calculations: effect size, correction factor, fail safe n, standard error, confidence interval, variance, study weight, weighted effect size, heterogeneity, fixed effects model and random effects model. All these calculations can be done in Excel®. In part two of the article was taught how prepare and understand the forest plots. In conclusion, the practice of the meta-analysis is difficult task, but when well executed, becomes an excellent study for the sport and the physical activity.
