Abstract

The classification of an individual as trained in weight training is an inclusion criterion in research conducted with training in weight training. Different parameters are used, among them, the training time in the form above. This study aimed to examine whether there are differences in the performance of one repetition maximum (1RM) in the bench press exercise in individuals with different training timesin weight training. The study included 24 male subjects who were weight training. The values of the performance test were separated into two groups: Group 1 (G1), individuals with up to six months of training in weight training and Group 2 (G2), individuals older than six months. Through the T-test was verified a significantly smaller statistical difference (p<0.05) when comparing the average total value of the weight lifted by G1 (82.9 kg) compared to G2 (95.7 kg). The results of this study will assist inresearch in this area, improving the inclusion criteria, and also in the formation of more homogeneous groups. Furthermore you can help in better scaling of the training load in training programs in weight training.
