Acute influence of previous stretching in the performance test Timed Up and Go (TUG) in older womans
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of previous stretching in the agility o folder womans used to the Test Timed Up and Go. The sample consisted of 18 womens with a mean age of 64.6 (± 4.2) years. The Timed Up and Go test was applied in two situations: (1) without stretching and (2) previous stretching. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using the Student t test with significance set at p<0.05. The results show a significant decrease (p=0.001) in the mean time the Timed Up and Go test in previous stretching (8.3±2.0 s) when compared to the test without stretching (9.3±1.7 s). It is concluded that stretching exercises used before the Timed Up and Go test influenced positively in the agility of olders womans, less time to complete the proposed task.
